Kato Kintu is not to be confused with Kintu, the first person on the earth according to Buganda legend. Kato Kintu gave himself the name ''Kintu'', a name that he knew the Baganda associated with the father of all people. ==Claim to the throne== Kintu created the kingdom of Buganda by forcefully taking over the five clans that lived in the region. To signify his victory over a clan, he would sleep in the conquered leader's home; tradition says that Buganda was the name of the first house that he slept in after his victory over Bbemba and his tribe.
